Don’t let the snow slow you down

First I would like to start by wishing all the readers of the blog a Happy New year. I know its been a while since I last wrote something but here we are back in 2010 with a bang. So have you made New Years Resolutions? Have you made plans for 2010? Well then this blog entry is directed at you.

For the last couple of days the UK has been gripped by snow, ice, wind, storms and every other type of extreme winter weather you could think of. This has meant a slow start to 2010 for many. Lots of people have been unable to go to work, lots of schools have been closed and lots of people have just decided to stay at home and not brave the elements. This has meant you may have already lost a couple of days of 2010 whilst you wait for the snow to thaw.

When you make plans or resolutions you want to hit the ground running whilst that enthusiasm is still fresh and with some people when they come up to the first hurdle it can put an end to their plans. Say if you have committed to doing something daily whether that be writing, running or something else after you have been doing it daily for sometime it makes you more determined to keep doing it and not miss a day but if you have only just started and you miss a day it can be much harder to get back in to it. The longer you can go without a hurdle the better but if you are someone that is easily distracted by hurdles you need to be resolute and find a way around that hurdle.

I know the snow can be fun and a big distraction as it brings out the big kid in all of us but it is important that we don’t let this temporary weather affect our long term plans. On the other side the snow can be annoying as it stops us going places or doing things we want to do so we have to adapt and make the most of not being able to go to work or school by using that time to achieve something that we normally wouldn’t have had the time to achieve.

So I hope you are making the best of the situation and that you are going to make 2010 your year.

Starting the Year off Right

So you are now back at School, College, University or work and already one week of the year has passed us by. Gone are the parties and the fun of the Christmas / New Year period and if your like most you wont have a clue what you are going to do in 2009. You have probably already made new years resolutions with many people already breaking them and you may have put a few pounds on over Christmas but now is not the time to look back now is the time to start the year off right.

A lot of what you do in January can dictate how the rest of your year is going to go. Now is the time we need to get our attitude right for the year, get focused and get that determination going. We need to start setting ourselves goals and go about achieving those goals, forget about what you did or didn’t achieve last year just focus on what you can achieve this year and how you can achieve what it is that you want to achieve. If we can’t get that determination and that focus going now its going to be harder for the rest of the year and if you do manage to find it later on you will have already wasted so much time.

Now is the time to get your diary out and plan your year. Start putting in all the things you have planned and if you don’t have enough things planned start planning things. To succeed in 2009 you are going to have manage your time and make the most out of every minute you have.

As we start the year it is time to cast off all those things about us which are stopping us from achieving and making those changes in our lives and in our attitude that will help us become more successful. This is the year to make the changes in your own life that make a big impact.

What are your plans for the year? We want to know what goals you have set yourself and you can let us know by joining in our topic of the week which can found by going to:

Christmas

In our final blog of the year before Talented Young People closes its doors for the Christmas break I thought it was only fitting this week that we talk about Christmas.

Now to me Christmas is a time of relaxation but deserved relaxation. If you put in one hundred and ten percent all year around to achieve your dreams your batteries need to be recharged with a week’s rest. With companies and a vast percentage of the population slowing down and closing up for Christmas it makes sense to get your rest and relaxation in when it is hard to get anything done.

Christmas is also a time for reflection. To think about what you have achieved this year and what you should have achieved. It’s only when looking at a year as a whole and matching we achieved against what we wanted to achieve that we can see if it has been a success or not. It is so easy to get caught up in the craziness which is the modern world and life so times like Christmas where everything shuts down are needed to get true perspective.

Christmas is about remembering what is important in your life. Spending time with family, friends and loved ones around Christmas can really bring home to us the importance of the people around us. It is a time where we make an effort to connect and reach out to people and a time where we can be overwhelmed by the generosity of others as well as feeling the warmth of making the time special for someone else.

If you want to hit the ground running in 2009 you need to make the best of this season to put to bed 2008 and to put you in a great position to start 2009.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us here at Talented Young People Ltd.
